The film shows a sequence of events from two different points of view. Martin Hash was interviewed on a cable access show called 'Computers: The Future of Art" about Hash's 3D character animation software for the 7 Mhz Amiga personal computer. At the time this was the only consumer software designed for 3D character animation. In the interview, Martin talks a lot about the philosophy behind Hash's software.

Why Does the Wind Blow?

This film was created in-house at Hash, Inc. in 1994 The story was written and narrated by Martin Hash and centers around a couple of kids who are bored at home and go outside on an adventure to find out where the wind comes from. All the textures in the film were hand painted watercolors which were then scanned and applied to the models. Both motion capture and keyframe animation were combined to create the motion. A children's book and CD-ROM game were also create with this film.

Trailer for Hash's feature film. In 1995, Hash embarked on a major in-house project to make a feature film. Written by Martin Hash, and directed by Ray DiCarlo, it is a gritty science fiction drama about a group of human fighters who use remotely operated robots to battle a race of giant, brutal bugs. The movie features 25 minutes of CG effects created with Animation:Master, which was a lot of CG for any movie at that time. It should also be noted that this movie came out before Starship Troopers.

Fantasy Factory Inc. Intro

A short intro animation for the Fantasy Factory Inc. website modeled off a sketch by Picasso of Don Quixote and Sancho. This was done on a G3 Powerbook (Mac) with one of the first Animation Master versions (I think the 2000) I had no training and was experimenting with the program to try and teach myself. When I say no training, I mean in 3D modeling or animation or indeed anything but film production. It took me for ever to do and get working right but under the circumstances, I'm quite proud. The text was done in an early version of FCP. Not entirely sure why it didn't come out super sharp, but hey... I was muddling my way through it all as a learning experience.
